ATLANTA BRAVES ABOUT TO ADD FORMER RED SOX PITCHER DEREK LOWE

Another major blow is about to hit both the Mets and Red Sox as multiple sources have reported that free agent pitcher Derek Lowe has signed a four-year deal worth $60 million with the Atlanta Braves. The deal is pending a physical. The Mets were considered the front-runner to acquire Lowe and the Red Sox were also players, although they probably dropped a lot of their interest after signing John Smoltz. Lowe went 14-11 with a 3.24 ERA in 211 innings last year and drew interest from the Yankees, but they chose CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett instead.

Um....Brad. How is not signing Derek Lowe a blow to the Red Sox? They have pitching up the wazoo. They've been there, done that. Lowe was not well-liked by the owners for offseason issues and the team has young pitchers to groom. It's a blow to the Mets, not the Sox.

A blow to the Sox was NOT signing Teixiera.

I hear Ms. Meriden was in Bristol the other night. Can you confirm or deny that information??

The Red Sox were rumored to be interested in signing Lowe again. But, like I said, since they signed John Smoltz, they were probably out of the market anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. But they were interested.

Unfortunately, I can neither confirm nor deny an appearance by Ms. Meriden in Bristol. Although I did hear about someone complaining about Rhode Island plates or something like there was no tomorrow. It was weird.
